A Dangerous Lie of Feminism

Movies, and some (otherwise very good) military sci-fi novels keep promoting the notion that women can be just as good as men at hand-to-hand combat. If you’re reading this, you’re probably already well acquainted with the reasons that pretending that women in the military are “equal” to men is disastrous and potentially threatening to national security. One has to wonder how many male police officers, forced to accept female “partners”, died because they were protecting their partners or because she couldn’t give him the kind of backup that another man could.

Not that women shouldn’t learn some self defense. I take martial arts classes, but I don’t imagine that they’re going to turn me into Rene Russo. (Actually, they didn’t even turn Rene Russo into Rene Russo; the men she beat up in Lethal Weapon III were actors and stunt men, being paid to let a woman sling them around.) I take them for exercise and because a lot of the slimeballs who attack women do so because they figure we’ll be easy targets. A lot of them flee at the slightest resistance.

Naturally, in spite of this, feminists tell women not to buy guns and not to try to fight back when a man attacks them, to just meekly submit, because resisting could “escalate the cycle of violence”. This is the kind of logic that led to 9/11. Without women voters, terrorists would never have gotten to the point where they could do such a thing.

But the fact is that, unless you’re talking about an unusually strong and well-trained woman and a weedy little man, a woman is not able to defend herself from a man who is determined to do her harm.

Again, I’m sure all readers of this blog know why that is a dangerous delusion in the military. But there’s another danger as well, one close to my heart: little girls in co-ed schools. Teachers – and parents – who have seen enough movies where Ashley Judd or Charlie’s Angels beat up men start to believe that this is possible, even to average women and girls. Because of this, when they see little boys beating up on little girls on the playground, they have an excuse not to intervene. This was especially true of the teachers of my generation, who grew up in a patriarchal society and consequently didn’t get beaten up by boys in school, and so had never personally experienced the fact that males are stronger than females. Not only would it be backward and sexist to teach boys not to hit girls, also it would be depriving the little girls of the chance to beat up their male attackers! If Drew Barrymore can beat up five men herself, surely six-year-old Suzie can do the same thing! Why, if it weren’t true, they wouldn’t put it in a movie!

Today’s teachers, and many parents, are always eager for ways to escape their responsibilities. Lying to themselves that women don’t need to be defended from men is just one of the ways.

Basically, the modern day left wants to make life more like a video fighting game; “fair” and “balanced” not for the characters living their own lives, but for the third parties who control them in the battlefields they set up, slowing down the bigger and stronger in the process.

And all the while the AI still cheats.
