Identity Politics and its Nemesis: Me

After making my last two posts, I had lunch and thought about why the occasional feminist who finds this blog is so utterly shocked. It isn’t just the usual reaction of ideologues to blasphemy. It’s more outrage, as if I, who they just encountered five minutes ago, have betrayed them.

I’ve encountered this reaction also when people find out that I am gay and a conservative. I used to belong to the Log Cabin Republicans before the GOP decided to support feminist Sarah Palin. (Just because she’s off message with the baby-killing thing doesn’t make this pro-Title IX working mother any less of a feminist.) People often weren’t just surprised that my disinterest in penii didn’t automatically make me believe that the government had a right to take away my money, my guns and my cigarettes. They were indignant. Don’t I know that as a homosexual, I am the property of the Left? How dare I try to think for myself!

They do the same thing to black conservatives. Just a couple of years after women’s magazines, including Ms. and Cosmo, were defending poor yittle rapist Willie Horton, who was being persecuted, not for being a violent criminal, but for being black!, those same magazines were demonizing Clarence Thomas as a “sexual predator” on the basis of remarks he was accused of making, which accusations were obviously untrue. This is why a few weeks ago I had to disagree with the white nationalist who cruised by here and said that white feminists would inevitably join WNs soon, because of the high rate of violence by nonwhite men on white women. He obviously never read women’s magazines. They defend a black man who definitely, no doubt, committed rape and serious battery, while taking up arms against a black man who was the victim of obviously untrue accusations of saying things.

Of course, Clarence Thomas had to be taken down, because he went off the plantation. He’s black, therefore his vote is the property of the Democratic Party. How dare he be a conservative? Any means of discrediting him were fair in the minds of liberals and feminists.

Yeah, liberals will take care of women, queers, blacks, etc. – as long as we do what we’re told.

Last fall I was really disgusted with the election. Not only because all of the choices sucked. What disgusted me was seeing just how frivolous the electorate actually is. Not that I had thought particularly highly of them before, but my low opinion of them had obviously been much too high.

We’ve all seen the statistics that nearly all nonwhite people in this country voted for Obama, making it nonsense that race “wasn’t an issue” in the campaign. Everyone knows perfectly well that Obama, who is corrupt and incompetent even by politician standards, would never have had a chance if he hadn’t been half-black.

Not so obvious is how many women voted for McCain because of Sarah Palin. I read several articles about women griping because they had to vote Republican for the first time because of her.

And a far-left woman of my acquaintance, after saying she was going to vote for Obama in the primaries, admitted that she felt guilty for “not voting for a woman” (meaning Hilary Clinton).

Identity politics. Your vote is supposed to be determined by your melanin, what resides between your legs, and what you would like to visit between your legs. Thought processes don’t even enter into it. A lot of bullshit liberal theories and programs, like affirmative action and sex discrimination lawsuits, are justified with the notion that the world will be a better place if straight white men aren’t left unsupervised. Women are kind and nurturing, so if we give them the vote and then let them hold public office, there will be no more war! That is actually what they said in the campaign for women’s suffrage. When that didn’t work, of course, the answer was that we need more women, not just voting, but actually holding public office! And nonwhite people aren’t as mean and territorial as white people (ignore all history that took place outside of Europe to make this theory work), so if we get enough of them all over the place, the world will change and everything will be fluffy bunnies. And homosexuals, not being part of the whole oppressive patriarchal heteronormative whatsis, are blessedly free to practice free love and socialism!

(Actually, we can practice free love because we don’t make each other pregnant.)

All ludicrous theories like this do is fuel racism and misogyny.

So if you’ve built your hopes on the notion that people who are not straight white men are naturally “better” (read: more liberal), and that salvation depends on getting as many women, queers, and nonwhites as possible into every single area of life, encountering any member of these groups who goes off message must be deeply distressing. I’m supposed to be sitting around having nurturing thoughts about how lovely the world would be with a lack of nasty male competition and possessiveness and all those other inherent bits of human nature, and instead I’m pointing out that feminist theories are a load of bull and that women are inferior to men in virtually every way, and need constant supervision by men. Then there’s Clarence Thomas and Thomas Sowell, speaking the heresy that black people can achieve on their own without special privileges from white people. And finally, there’s the Log Cabin Republicans refusing to give up all of their other rights in return for being allowed to have the kind of sex we want.

Men can point out facts and construct reasoned arguments all they want, but they will never have the emotional effect on feminists that I do. After all, it’s that horrible testosterone and/or societal conditioning that makes men think that facts are more important than feminist wishful thinking! Poor XY types just can’t help themselves.

But all I have to do to threaten feminist delusions is exist.

Wrongheaded ideologues become so hostile with facts contrary to their wishes are presented to them. Maybe it has something to do with their arguments not having a leg to stand on?

There's a reason women traditionally cared for the children. The think and respond the same way, based on emotion and impulse rather than some previously defined rationale. I often compare dealing with women to dealing with children, or even dogs. In all cases its Pavlovian training. Give them a treat when they behave and revoke it when they don't. There's little point in reasoning with your dog, and by extension with your kids or wife. Reasoning only is effective for people who will alter their behavior based on cogent argument.

Yeah. That's why I aim this blog at men, rather than wasting time trying to reason with feminists.

Feminists in general surround themselves with like minded people. They assume anybody who disagrees with them spends their weekends at KKK rallies. When they run across someone civilized with a different opinion it is always a shock. I imagine a gay woman with a different opinion is like meeting a talking unicorn.

I remember a couple of weeks I spent in Europe hanging out with some left wing artists and college students. When they found out I was in the American military they all had something to say. The funny thing was how fast the females became frustrated and angry when I calmly pointed out the cotradictions in their view points.

It was like they never met anybody who disagreed with them in their whole life. Like a virus that they never build up any resistance to.

That's true. Sometimes I meet these liberals who live in liberal bubbles, and when I state that I disagree with them, they're too shocked even to argue.
